What can I expect?
Sunderland IAPT can help with a number of common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and stress. You can access the service by referring yourself either using the online referral form or by calling 0191 566 5454. The referral telephone line is open Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am – 4:45pm and the online referral form can be completed any time that is convenient for you.
If you choose to fill in the referral form then a member of the admin team will be in touch to arrange a telephone triage for you with one of our therapists at a time that is convenient for you.
If you choose to call the referral telephone line then a member of admin will gather some basic demographic information and will arrange a telephone triage for you with one of our therapists at a time that is convenient for you.
Sunderland IAPT follow the ‘matched care model’ which offers the most appropriate but least intrusive intervention or treatment first. This means that you may feel much better quite quickly with a simple and short treatment.
What will happen during the call with the therapist?
The telephone triage will take approximately 30 minutes. It is important that you are in a quiet and confidential place where you can talk freely.
The therapist will ask you some questions about how you are currently feeling and this will help to work out if IAPT is the right service for you and if so which treatment may be most helpful.
The Therapist will ask you to complete four short questionnaires about your symptoms to help us to decide the best way forward for you. The questionnaires are available to view below and we would suggest you complete the questionnaire PRIOR to your triage appointment. This will assist with completing the triage appointment in a timely way.
